Tips when using taxis and ride-hailing services Be safe and aware of your surroundings Wait for your ride in a safe, well-lit location away from traffic, such as the recommended pick-up/drop-off locations. Avoid entering or leaving a vehicle in the middle of traffic or at busy intersections. Stay on the curb until your ride arrives. Confirm your ride before you get in Ask the driver for your name and verify the car and driver information match what you're expecting. Review the safety features available in app-based services.
